The Speeding Clawfoot is a Sharp Class dragon with sharp claws and tail spikes.

Appearance[]

This dragon has a long body and tail. It has long legs and a long neck. It has a flame-shaped horn on its snout, as well as an elongated lower jaw. It has a "crown" of horns on the back of its head. It has sharp claws on its feet and spikes on its tail. It has extremely small and thin arms.

The young of this dragon are much smaller than adults. The horns on their noses are shorter and less flame-shaped as well. Their foot claws are less long and sharp, as they tend to rely on their parents to bring them food throughout their early life.

Behavior[]

The Speeding Clawfoot is the roadrunner of the dragon world. It is often seen running around, usually while chasing prey or evading predators. This dragon is known to run in packs with others of its kind, with the largest of these packs containing around ten dragons. Speeding Clawfoots are very parental dragons. Once they have laid their eggs, they will sit on the nest for days on end until the babies hatch. They will then raise their young, with other members of their pack chipping in to help. When the babies are full grown, they leave to find a pack of their own. However, they will stay in the pack if the pack is made up of fewer than ten dragons.

Abilities[]

This dragon has powerful legs that can push it to speeds of 25 miles per hour. Its short arms can be pulled back against its body in order to minimize friction when it runs. It has sharp claws on its feet that act like spikes on cleats, propelling the dragon forward faster. If it ever needs to stop abruptly, this dragon has several, sharp spikes on its tail, which it can slam into the ground in order to bring it to a halt.

Trivia[]

  • While it isn't a subspecies, the Speeding Clawfoot is closely related to the Speed Stinger.
  • This dragon and its younger form are based off of concept art for How to Train Your Dragon.
