This particular one is mostly about the Heather Reports, but it gets different. There is only one Nightsong in Shock, but in the second story after this the Nightsongs and my OC Torhild and her dragon Valkyrie will appear. Basically, it is the first story in a short trilogy, being with Shock of Betrayal, Shock: Twisted fate: and then Song of Night.

The Nightsong is a Mystery class dragon that is smaller than but related to the Deathsong.

Appearance

Egg

A Nightsong's egg is the color of the unhatched dragon inside with darker spots.

Dragon

They have dark wings, slightly lighter scales, bright wing patterns and fins, and dark stripes and belly. They have two long ringed horns on the back of their head and light grey long spines on their back. they have a really long tail with two fins with curling tips.

Behavior

Nightsongs are social dragons, much the opposite of Deathsongs. A pair of Nightsongs will bond and will have one egg and stay together for the rest of their life or until one dragon dies.

Separate pairs can join up with others and make a flock. Nightsongs can only have one egg in a lifetime and are fiercely protective of their young. When a Nightsong is brooding, incubating an egg, if something comes too close the dragon will attack.

Being smaller, the Nightsong can fly much faster than the Deathsong and make sharper turns at a higher speed, able to fly at around 70 mph top speed. Though, their speed is balanced down by their lack of strength, as they would not be able to pick up and fly away with something as heavy as a full grown Gronckle without help, unlike a Deathsong.

Abilities

Hunting

Nightsongs hunt in the same manner as Deathsongs, producing a warbling tone to lure their prey close before trapping them in their thick clear cocoon. However unlike Deathsongs, Nightsongs prefer small dragons like Speed Stingers, Terrors, or Smothering Smokebreaths, and still only occasionally, preferring to hunt boars, sheep, and fish.

Eel Reaction

Nightsongs react differently to eels than most other dragons, most likely because they have a different fire to begin with.

When they eat eels, their system heats up dramatically for a short amount of time. They can then breathe a sort of fire that is the same color as the particular dragon but only as hot as your average Nightmare's flames. They can also make their amber boiling hot and even stickier. Eventually, the eel reaction and increase in energy will eventually wear off, leaving the dragon tired and friendlier than usual.

The Nightsongs appear in my fanfiction on Wattpad. (Link below)
