They... They killed him... It was just one axe, but still... Baydancer is dead. It all happened so fast. My hand is shaking as I'm writing this. I'm not even sure how much time has passed. All I know is that it's dark outside, but when it happened, there was light, and I saw everything...

I don't want to talk about it. I don't... But I want the world to know about the cruelty that happened on this day. It had been almost a week since I first saw Baydancer in the cove, his scales shimmering in the water, and his beautiful roars echoing across the beach... I was so close. I had my hand out. He was there. I could feel the dragon's breath on my fingers. And then, the axe came, and he was gone... A viking from the village, Fishguts, showed up for some reason or another. I was so struck with grief I almost didn't hear what he said. But what I did hear was him asking if I was okay, and then him yelling at me. To be honest, I blacked out, and don't remember much other than Baydancer... My father said I lost it, and attacked Fishguts. Apparently I almost knock a tooth out. Good. He deserves another broken tooth for what he did to my dragon. Yes, I said it. MY dragon. I don't care who reads this. Baydancer was my dragon. I was so close...

Needless to say, I'm in a lot of trouble. I wish I could say more, but so far, I don't know my punishment. Father and Mother are talking with Fishguts and the chief about what to do with me. I don't care if I get exiled. I don't want to be here anymore. I don't belong on the Meathead Islands. This is no longer my home. I need to leave, to get as far away as possible. I need to~---~~------~--~
